ABOUT TANK PAINTS
The Story Behind Tank Paints
Somehow, tank tops and painting have been showing up in my life for a long time.
As a kid, tank tops were pretty much all I wanted to wear during Alabama summers. My mom called them “muscle shirts.” Painting goes back almost as far. At 10 years old, my first paid job was spending a summer day painting the underside of my great-grandparents’ patio awning for $20. I definitely didn’t think I’d found my calling, but looking back, it feels pretty fitting.
The “Tank” nickname came in my twenties while I was bartending at a fine-dining restaurant in Florida. As soon as the last guest left, I’d take off my required black polo and finish closing in the tank top I wore underneath. After a few weeks, some of my coworkers started calling me “Tank.”
I moved on and the nickname faded, as did the memories from my childhood, but when I decided to build a residential painting company in Middle Tennessee, it all came back to me and Tank Paints just made sense.
Today, we focus on residential painting projects that can make a real difference in how a home looks and feels. I’m Matthew, owner of Tank Paints, and our standards are simple: clear communication, respect for your home, attention to detail, and work we’re proud to put our name on.
